Intelli-PassBiometric access control system from Black BoxProtect rooms effectively with Intelli-PassHallbergmoos, December 8, 2010 – The Intelli-Pass system for effective biometric door security from Black Box, the IT and telecommunications specialist, is available now. Unlike in many other systems, reader and controller units are separate here: while the reader is placed easily accessible at the door, the controller unit with the safety-relevant door controls and network communications is located within the secure area and thus protected from unauthorized access and tampering. The comprehensive management functions of Intelli-Pass add to ensure a maximum of security.
Proprietary encryption of the signal exchange between the two components provides additional security. Should a staff member be forced to enter, he/she can discretely activate a silent alarm. Furthermore, Intelli-Pass boasts a powerful battery backup that enables the system to continue to operate reliably in a reduced mode for up to eight hours in case of a power failure. Extensive management functions help you determine easily, when and to which rooms which staff (group) is granted access to. Special software manages access rights centrally over the network, and the full audit shows who has entered which room and when.
The multistage identification at the reader is done via fingerprint and PIN, and optionally via RFID. User enrolment is easy: for each new staff member, Intelli-Pass creates a multipoint schematic image of his/her biometric fingerprint profile, which is stored as a template. Each time access is sought, the system compares the template to the live print. Authentication takes less than one second, and neither images of fingerprints are stored, nor can the template be used to recreate fingerprints. Through a sophisticated verification process, Intelli-Pass recognizes pictures and silicone fakes and rejects those.
“Because of its architecture, i.e., the spatial separation of reader and controller units, our new biometric access control system offers a maximum of security,“ Axel Bürger, Managing Director of Black Box Deutschland GmbH, explains. “Special attention was given to the management of the system. The network-based system can control and monitor thousands of doors from a central location and grant or revoke access rights to staff members. And in case a network connection is not allowed, like, for example, in maximum security areas, a standalone version of Intelli-Pass is available.“ For this solution, all programming, including registration, is done via the keypad at the reader and an LCD with simple menu control.
